To many people the thought of buying at auction can be a little overwhelming; the thought of lifting one's arm in a crowded saleroom may seem to be a little frighting but at Bosleys this is not the case. We hold several sales a year in Marlow with helpful and knowledgeable staff in attendance; each sale attracts a large number of collectors, museums and dealers which creates a friendly and exciting atmosphere. For those unable to attend the auction, with modern technology introduced by Bosleys you can experience the auction by bidding live through the internet from the comfort of your home or office. Our large size colour illustrated catalogue is now recognised as one of the standard Military collectors reference works, due to the accurate descriptions and clear photographs. Each catalogue contains in the region of 850 lots all carefully vetted and guaranteed original. Every lot carries an estimate printed in the catalogue in order to assist you. Because of Bosleys international reputation, consignments arrive not only from this country but from all over the world, offering you the best possible selection of items available at any saleroom in the United Kingdom.
With the ever increasing number of reproduction items entering the market of military collectables, it is of paramount importance that you can buy with total confidence. Bosleys ensure this by carefully examining every item that is submitted from the cheapest cap badge to the most expensive helmet or sword. Unlike other salerooms, Bosleys representatives attend most arms / militaria / medal fairs and markets so as to maintain up to date information on the latest reproduction items to enter the collectors market. Due to this knowledge, Bosleys are happy to guarantee every item they sell, as original, of the period and as described.
As a subscriber you will receive four large colour illustrated catalogues. Each describes approximately 850 lots and will arrive up to three weeks before a sale giving you ample time to peruse the wide selection of items. Each lot is fully described indicating condition and those illustrated are professionally photographed ensuring that the lots you see in the saleroom or receive through the post are exactly what you expected from the catalogue description. Many of the lots will be accompanied by a potted history of the original owner or with details of the regiment concerned. You can take advantage of receiving additional information or help by telephoning Remnantz prior to the auction where your questions with be answered by a friendly member of staff conversant with the items in the sale. Subscription rates: UK £88 for 4 issues, Rest of World (Airmail) £108.
On sale day all the items are displayed in Court Gardens saleroom. This is a Georgian manor house which nestles on the banks of the River Thames. The sale is conducted in the General Higginson Room; the General was a hero of the Crimean War and his portrait hanging above the door adds to the atmosphere of the day. The saleroom has ample parking and full catering facilities. After registering you will find the lots clearly displayed and access to items will be via one of our friendly, knowledgeable porters or staff. For those unable to attend the sale we offer a full confidential postal bidding service or you can take advantage of our online live internet bidding service. This enables you to sit in the comfort of your home and bid live as though in the auction room itself. We can also arrange the postage and packing of purchased items. Marlow remains a largely unspoilt town that houses Remnantz, the Georgian forerunner of RMA Sandhurst. It is situated close to the major road arteries of the M4, M40 and M25. Visiting Marlow by train from London could not be easier. A picturesque single track railway, known as The Donkey, connects Marlow to Maidenhead which offers regular main line trains to and from Paddington. The railway station is but a short walk to Court Gardens. Bosleys are proud to offer their view, buy and clear policy. This enables you to view items while the sale is in progress, bid for them and clear in the least possible time.
Although many specialist auctions charge gore, Bosleys buyers premium is 20% on the hammer price; VAT is chargeable on the premium only, not on the hammer price; ie the total cost of a lot which hammers for £100 is £124.
Bosleys do not have collection facilities. All postage is handled by a professional firm, Mail Boxes Etc of Windsor.
All lots bought through live bids/commission bids and all remaining at the end of the sale are collected on the evening of the public sale.
